Penumbra Collection Multi | PC Game | 1,2 GB
Penumbra is a first person horror adventure focussing on story,
immersion and puzzle solving. Violence and combat is hardly an option -
the player has to use wits to guide Philip through his final test, and
this makes the series unique in offering a truly dangerous and
terrifying experience. Played from a first person perspective and
powered by a 3D engine utilising cutting edge technology, Penumbra is a
true advancement to the adventure genre. The unique physics system
allows for true environmental interaction: The player can open drawers,
pull levers, pick up objects and manipulate those objects in 3D space -
all using natural mouse movements, creating a highly interactive and
immersive game world. The Penumbra series' central character, Philip,
is realistically vulnerable, while enemies are fierce and intelligent.
Any object can be picked up and thrown in defence, but the end result
might only be to buy some time, or more likely, anger enemies further.
Avoiding, outwitting and sneaking past enemies entirely provide the
best chance of survival. Penumbra will put players on edge like never
before as they explore bizarre and mysterious environments, the unknown
awaiting them behind every corner. The world is detailed both in terms
of graphical fidelity and narrative character - The Penumbra Series is
a horrific experience that will grip players from its opening thrills
to it chilling denouement.

Penumbra: Overture
Penumbra: Overture is the first in a series of episodic games developed
by Swedish developer Frictional Games. It was originally intended as
the first episode of a trilogy. With the announcement of the second
episode, Penumbra: Black Plague, it was stated that the second game
would be the final chapter. However, an expansion has been released
since then: Penumbra: Requiem, giving the series a third chapter,
although not continuing the story in any way.
Set in the year 2000 Penumbra: Overture follows Philip, a
thirty-year-old physicist whose last living relative, his mother, dies.
After receiving a mysterious letter from his supposedly dead father,
Philip follows a series of clues that lead him to Greenland. The harsh
cold forces him to take shelter in an abandoned mine. Unfortunately,
the mine's entrance collapses as he enters it, and he is forced to move
deeper inside. Within the mine, Philip begins receiving radio messages
from Tom "Red" Redwood, a man driven insane by cabin fever. Red
promises that if he is found, he will give Philip answers. The game
follows Philip as he descends deeper into the mines in search of Red
while unraveling the secrets of the mine's previous and current
inhabitants. Philip quickly discovers that the mine is inhabited by an
ecosystem of abnormally large and hostile animals: dogs, giant spiders,
and gargantuan earthworms among others. Abandoned outposts and various
scattered papers found throughout the mine indicate that a secret
society is studying some unusual phenomena inside the mines. Following
clues and solving various puzzles, Philip eventually comes to an area
deep within the mine where Red is waiting for him. Red waits inside an
incinerator where he begs Philip to kill him. With no other option,
Philip activates the incinerator and amongst Red's remains, he finds
items he needs to progress into a new area of the mine which is
identified as "The Shelter". Once inside, Philip notices what appears
to be a human watching him. Philip approaches the figure, but the
lighting is suddenly extinguished and Philip is knocked out and dragged
away.

Penumbra: Black Plague
Penumbra: Black Plague is the second installment of the Penumbra series
of episodic games for the PC developed by Swedish developer Frictional
Games. The story continues where the previous episode, Penumbra:
Overture, left off. It was released on February 12, 2008. First
intended as a trilogy, the series was reduced to two episodes due to
unidentified problems with the previous publisher, Lexicon
Entertainment, with the announcement of Penumbra: Black Plague. This
episode was published by Paradox Interactive. Frictional Games later
announced that Penumbra was to receive an expansion named Requiem,
which was released in August 2008. Penumbra: Black Plague was nominated
for a Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award in 2008 for Best Video Game
Script.
Like the previous episode, Penumbra: Overture, Black Plague is an
exploration-based adventure game that takes place from a fully
3-dimensional, first-person perspective. Although the game is presented
as a first-person adventure game, it also contains elements of
first-person shooter and survival horror gameplay. Gameplay features a
mixture of exploration and solving physical puzzles (the Newton Physics
engine allows for many physics puzzles). In comparison to the previous
episode, combat has been heavily de-emphasized. Players will no longer
be able to acquire melee weapons or create makeshift traps to fight
enemies with. Instead, the emphasis is on the use of stealth and
fleeing to avoid attacks by enemy creatures.

Penumbra: Requiem
Penumbra: Requiem is an expansion pack to the game Penumbra: Black
Plague by Frictional Games. Unlike Black Plague (and Penumbra:
Overture), the focus is almost exclusively on puzzle solving. The game
starts as the last one ends, with Phillip sending the 'kill them all'
message. As soon as he finishes he is hit on the head by something
unseen. The player then controls a character in some kind of tomb.
Items need to be collected in each chamber in order to move on to the
next. In the journey, the player starts to see familiar places from
other parts of the facility and receive communication from a person who
later identifies himself as Phillip's former adviser, Red, from the
first Penumbra game. A communication is received from a member of The
Shelter advising that while the Tuurngait does not know that Phillip
has sent a message to the outside world, The Shelter staff are aware
that it has happened. This is contradictory as the member of The
Shelter who delivers the message is in fact part of the Tuurngait hive
mind.
